On Jan 14 2012 John D wrote, ...house keeping staff. Who are very nice hard working people. But, the overall hotel is in dire need of a make over. The bathrooms are small and dingy. The rooms are carpeted with carpet that looks like it was secondhand when they put it down many, many years ago. My bed bugs left a nice little marks on the legs as a souvenir of my visit, which are disgusting. I will never stay there again.

BUT THANKFULLY NO BED BUGS Our room was on the seventeenth floor at the back, some road and service noise but not enough to keep us awake. Nice view of the top of Chrysler Building form window. Would have appreciated tea and coffee making in room, but good delies on same block, try the " Lunchette " on 50th ( turn left...

On Oct 18 2011 Lan Y wrote, ...Woke up the next day with what I thought were mosquito bites, huge itchy red bumps along my leg. The next day there were more bites. I did a search and sure enough, looks like bed bug bites. I phoned management upon my return the very next day to report the complaint and was promptly transferred/hung up several times. They are "investigating" but offered nothing than "we are looking into it."

Wasn't until I returned home with my arms and stomach literally covered with itchy welts that we released were bed bugs. Understand that there is epidemic in NYC. Am heading back to NY in November this year so will bring the trusty medication in case of another attack.

On Aug 12 2011 TXtraveler4life wrote, If you don't care about the smelly, musty rooms, then you won't have any issues with this hotel. The staff is very nice and pleasant. It's a great location for business travelers and tourists. However, bring a bottle of Febreeze with you because you will need it. I also read the reviews that some travelers experienced issues with bed bugs. I am very happy to report that I didn't experience bed bugs.

We arranged for car service the last day back to the airport. The hotel surprised us by having a stretch white limo provide our ground transportation. It was a great way to end the trip! Next tip for traveling to NYC will be to take the subway more or taxi's. By the time we walked to most places...

On Jul 27 2011 andersaxson wrote, ...want to leave your bags (although apparently not on the way in). Erm, that's it I think. Location-wise it's fine (opposite the Waldorf actually) and you can easily walk three or four blocks to the upmarket shops, of across to the theatres. By the way, there was a bed-bug workers union sort of protest outside the hotel, but I had no problem whatsoever in this respect of bugs.the hotel was clean.

I read about bed bugs and quickly check my room and bed for bugs. I did not see any, no signs of any...

I am a paying guest and even a frequent Hilton guest so I expect the staff to be informed about...

Also, the hotel had some union dispute with the fumigation company who check for bedbugs and they mounted a 30 foot high inflatable rat in front of the main reception and stopped us on our way in to tell us their complaints about the hotel - also not a good advert. Would not stay at the Hilton Doubletree Metropolitan, Lexington Avenue, NY again.

I did not find any bed bugs nor was I inconvenienced. Possibly some competitors of Doubletree giving misinformation. However, many people were put off by such bad publicity in this hotel and some others in New York.
