On Nov 13 2012 CWinstin wrote, The bedbugs were not as bad as the staff's non-reaction and overall terrible attitudes. We could live with tired old rooms for $250 but seriously EVERY aspect of the staff there was terrible. Yes, we have several of our group get bug bites. STAY away , what a terrible place.

On Nov 9 2012 Itchy and BITTEN BAD :( wrote, It's 2012 and they still seem to be in denial about a bug problem. That or they enjoy outright lying to me when i have bites ALL over, went to doctor today (Nov 8. 2012) and was CONFIRMED bitten by bed bugs, and i actually FOUND A BUG WITH MY OWN eyes, photographed it, and showed it to security (the bug was on my bed in the room!) and they changed my room, supposedly called an exterminator. Then they...

On Sep 8 2012 marant72 wrote, Dirty, old, ugly, rude staff at breakfast who steals through coupons, and the likely have bed bugs. We were totally surprised by what's called Hotel (4 star?). The price was too high for what you get. At the front desk were friendly, but breakfast (____)! Disgusting meal, lazy staff and waiters are trying to steal from us! Big mistake as some sort of breakfast coupons, which allow them to steal. I...

On Aug 19 2012 Malcolm J wrote, We took a chance on this one as I had seen some bad reviews regarding 'bed bugs'. I'm glad to report that the room was clean and tidy with no sign of the aleged 'night life'. After moving rooms due to poor wifi signal in the first one we were alocated we soon settled in to the large room with a huge bed which made our king size at home look small! The room had a large LCD flat screen TV and a filter...

On Aug 10 2012 Maria B wrote, Large and clean room with nice beds (checked for bed bugs but no sign). Bathroom in need of renovation though - especially the plumbing: toilet was nearly impossible to flush and the shower tricky to adjust. Stayed there 4 nights in April and the room was quite cold - had to sleep with a thick sweater on. The location is great though - just a few minutes walk from Central Park, Times Square, subway....

On Jul 5 2012 Bobkatevan wrote, This hotel was in a good location. Service was quick and we were into our room fast. The room had a musty old smell. Got used to it as we stayed longer in room. It was clean but needed repair and remodel. Tiles in shower looked ready to fall off. Didn't see bed bugs as noted on another review. I checked. Bed was fine. I would not stay here again because of smell. Located near lots of tourist areas....

On Apr 17 2012 Chris B wrote, Some of the reviews for this hotel on TripAdvisor were a little frightening (IE bed bugs, mold, etc.) and had me expecting the worst. A conference I was lecturing at was being held here.and since I was traveling alone, I thought it best to stay in the hotel where the event was being held. The room was clean, but this place needs some updates! When I walked through the hallways, It kinda had a "shining"...

On Mar 12 2012 IGScot wrote, Hotel is in a decent location but the whole place is very rundown. The rooms are clean but after some of the reviews earlier in the year regarding rodents and bed bugs they must have had to sort things out.Staff are helpful and there are around 600 rooms so it is usually busy, especially with large groups of young people. There are ice machines on every second floor but make sure you get a room well away...

On Feb 26 2012 Chris S wrote, Someone in my party had bedbugs in their bed on the first night of our stay. Management did not seem surprised and only offered to move them to another room, not the Holiday Inn down the street. Free breakfast was nice, free wifi was an added bonus, location was good, but there are bedbugs, so be careful.

On Feb 21 2012 ruvb wrote, ...that simply weren't met. Room cleanliness is probably the number 1 concern - while our room had no bedbugs and the sheets themselves were fairly clean, everything else in our recently refurbished room (including all walls and handles) needed a thorough scrubbing. While some things did not look too dirty, when extra towels were delivered and I accidentally hit the wall with one, it was covered in...

I have always preferred staying 'downtown' in any case but the hotel I have previously stayed at appeared on the Bed Bug Registry so I wasn't tempted to go back there! At least the Holiday Inn Midtown does not appear on the BBR and I must say was very clean.
